James Julian is an experienced private equity investor and financial advisor with over 25 years of experience. Mr. Julian has structured, negotiated and closed hundreds of millions of dollars of transactions ranging from funding start-up and emerging growth to middle market growth companies and leveraged buy outs.
Prior to Clear Capital Advisors, Mr. Julian spent ten years assisting owners and CEOs of private companies in raising capital to achieve full or partial liquidity. He credits his success to being an aggressive advocate for his clients and valuing listening, clarity, honesty, and persistence.
Previously, Mr. Julian spent 15 years on the buy-side as an investment officer or partner in institutional private equity firms investing in emerging or middle market growth companies. He was a senior investment officer for the private equity investment subsidiaries of Union Bank and of First Interstate Bank. He founded and was Managing Partner for JCS Partners, a private equity firm that invested in advanced aerospace technology companies in Southern California. He was on the sell-side as Chairman of a consumer goods company that he purchased with a partner, using private and institutional capital, in which he profitably grew revenues five-fold to a $50M run rate and subsequently sold to a strategic buyer. His family’s business was in the consumer goods industry—a manufacturer of over-the-counter topical skin care products with its largest brand being Lanacane.
Mr. Julian received his B.A. in psychology from Stanford University and an M.B.A. in finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is registered with FINRA as a General Securities Representative (Series 7 and 63). He is an avid competitor in many sports.
